For this project I started with a painting and then through a series of drawings, reworked the lines and shapes in the painting to create a new image of my own design. From there the image was developed with color, and then finally into a three-dimensional box that explored concepts like material and depth. My final shadow box was created with wood and plexi-glass, which in conjunction with each other experimented with depth, transparency, and layering. The objects in the box sit at different levels, creating optical illusions that force the viewer to focus to understand the movement of the box. The plexi-glass creates a window-like view of one corner of the box and allows the viewer to peer through the slats and view the world of layers beneath.
